| Specialty Programs: Specialized Skill Sessions |
Overview
This program focuses on the "micro" skills sets that are essential to being a complete lacrosse player. Our development progressions are offered in four, six, and eight-week packages.
The intimate format of these skill sessions allows all players to receive increased individual attention and maximum repetitions while developing more personal relationships with the Trilogy Staff. The teaching progression of these sessions ensures a foundation in proper fundamentals before focusing on the development of advanced techniques. For example, we begin with the mechanics of throwing an overhand pass before teaching behind- the- back and no-look passes. The focused and extended structure of the skills sessions maximizes player development.
The skills developed through each session act as “building blocks” for the subsequent sessions. For example, the Houston High School Saturday Sessions Group learned Time and Room Shooting in Session #1. The next week they learned how to perform moves off of their Time and Room shot when facing an inevitable defensive slide. In Session #3, Midfielders were put in a position to implement these skills during the Vertical 3v3 Drill. When receiving a skip pass from the dodging Attackman behind the goal, they had to execute a Time and Room shot or move under pressure. The fourth and final session concluded with a Half-field Scrimmage using a 2-2-2 offensive set. During this game-like situation, the top two offensive players were encouraged to find skip pass lanes and set themselves up for their Time and Room shot. By the end of the program, offensive players had learned Time and Room Shooting, its complementary dodges, and practiced them under pressure through drills and game scenarios.
Testimonials
“With the small group dynamic, the Staff was able to build a personal relationship with each participant, which solidified the instruction and increased the level of excitement. The intimate setting also allowed Trilogy to cater to the specific needs of each group and every player- beginner players learned basic fundamentals while advanced players learned more complex techniques. In all my years involved with sports, I have never met professional athletes as personable, humble, and fun to work with as the Trilogy Team.” - Douglas Humphreys on the Houston Saturday Sessions
"I heard nothing but positive feedback from the boys in the clinic. They worked hard, but didn't realize it because they had so much fun. Even the most experienced players learned new skills and tips for improving their game. It was particularly nice to have the sessions at the school." - Robyn Nutt on the Murchison After School Program
